PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a recording method which suppress vibration caused by movement of a carriage even if a desired recording pattern or the like is changed. SOLUTION: A carriage M4001 is moved according to a plurality of drive conditions under which moving distances of the carriage M4001 are varied. The drive condition when the vibration generated at that time becomes at a predetermined level or below is set as a drive condition of the carriage M4001 when an image is recorded on a recording medium.
