PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method which enable the formation of a resin film having a uniform film thickness over a wide area. SOLUTION: The printer 1 has a steam generator 20, and when a coating liquid is applied from a printing head 55 to a printing area on a substrate 11, the coated part is fed into a steam generation chamber 26. The steam generator 20 discharges the steam of a humidifying liquid from small holes formed in a steam discharge surface 22, and the steam fills the inside of the steam generation chamber 26 to form a humidified atmosphere. When the printed coating liquid is put in the humidified atmosphere, it is swelled by the steam of the humidifying liquid. Thereby the printed part is prevented from drying during printing of the residual printing area, which maintains the coating liquid after printing in a state where the whole of the coating liquid is swelled, and prevents the generation of uneven drying in a drying process to form a resin film with good film quality.
