PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good-to-use electric wheelchair where a vehicle body can reliably be stopped in emergency and traveling stoppage of grip-in stoppage function never operates wrongly during traveling except for emergency. SOLUTION: When a detection means A detects grip-in operation, deceleration control is started. When the detection by the detection means A is continued for a prescribed period (t) or longer than (t), traveling stoppage control is carried out. When the detection by the detection means A becomes a non-detection state before the prescribed period (t) has not passed yet, the electric wheel chair is controlled so as to release the deceleration state by the grip-in stoppage function B.
