PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device which suspends the detection of specific information to be reproduced. SOLUTION: When speech information reproducible by a CD drive 2 is not detected from a CD even after lapse of the prescribed time after a user mounts the CD at the CD drive 2, a message is displayed on a liquid crystal display 4. When a stop key 7 is depressed by the user after the message is displayed, the detection of the speech information reproducible by the CD drive 2 is suspended.
