PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus with the lightness on the surface of a document is improved, when fetching a document image. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes an irradiation means (20), with which an object (100) is irradiated, and image reading means (21-25) for receiving reflection light reflected from the object (100) to acquire an image signal of the object (100). The irradiation means (20) includes a plurality of light-emitting elements for irradiating the object with light and a deflection means for deflecting the light emitted from the light-emitting element, wherein the plurality of light-emitting elements are arrayed in parallel with the main scan direction of a one-dimensional photoelectric conversion element (25), and the deflection means is configured to correct the light emitted from the light-emitting elements into a sub-scan direction, to make the corrected light condense and to hold spreading of the light emitted from the light-emitting elements, in the main scan direction, within a range to irradiate the object.
