REACTIVE POLYMER-SUPPORTING POROUS FILM FOR BATTERY SEPARATOR AND USE THEREOF

A reactive polymer-supporting porous film for battery separators is disclosed wherein a reactive polymer is supported by a porous film base. The reactive polymer is obtained by reacting and partially crosslinking a crosslinkable polymer having at least one reactive group in the molecule which group is selected from 3- oxetanyl groups and epoxy groups with a polycarboxylic acid. Such a reactive polymer-supporting porous film for battery separators enables to obtain sufficient adhesion between an electrode and a separator, and can be preferably used for producing a battery with low internal resistance and excellent high-rate characteristics. Also disclosed is a method for producing a battery wherein an electrode/reactive polymer-supporting porous film laminate is set in a battery container and then an electrolytic solution containing a cationic polymerization catalyst is injected into the battery container for bonding the porous film with the electrode.
