Storage compartment comprises a locking device (1) with fixing elements (6) fixed to a lid and a lifting mechanism with a first pair of film hinges (3). Each side (4) is connected to one of the fixing elements via the hinge so that the hinge is arranged between the fixing element and the side. The hinge allows for a pivoting movement of the lifting mechanism about a rotating point lying between the side and an operating element (2). - Preferred Features: The lifting mechanism has a second pair of film hinges (5) so that each side is connected to operating element via the hinges.
