PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an electromagnetic wave shielding light transmission window material by forming a plating layer at a uniform film thickness on a mesh-shaped electrically conducting layer, and to provide a simple plating apparatus advantageous thereto. SOLUTION: The plating apparatus is provided with: a plating tank to be filled with a plating liquid; an anode electrode arranged inside the plating tank, and to which anode voltage is applied; and a fixing means for arranging the material to be plated to which cathode voltage is applied, so as to be confronted with the anode electrode, and, by electroplating the material to be plated, an electromagnetic wave shielding light transmission window material is produced. The material to be plated is composed of a transparent substrate and a mesh-shaped electrically conductive layer provided on the transparent substrate. Then, the anode electrode has a shape where the central region and a plurality of planar outside regions arranged at the outside of the central region are connected, and also, the volume of the central region is larger than the volume of the outside regions.
