ATM COMMUNICATION SUPPORT SYSTEM, DATA TRANSMISSION SUPPORTING APPARATUS, DATA TRANSMITTING METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform communication between ATMs via a broadband Ethernet(R).

SOLUTION: If an ATM cell 70 from a first ATM 51 to a second ATM 52 is received via an ATM interface, a first communication device 11 transmits a data frame FRD containing the ATM cell 70 to the second ATM 52 via a broadband Ethernet(R) 4. A synchronizing frame FRS is continuously transmitted to the second ATM 52 via the broadband Ethernet(R) 4 at predetermined time intervals according to a clock frequency of the first ATM 51. If the synchronizing frame FRS is received, a second communication device 12 measures the clock frequency of the first ATM 51 according to the reception time intervals and reproduces a clock of the same frequency. This clock is then transmitted to the second ATM 52 via the ATM interface.
