PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet through system document reader in which sticking of dirt by noncontact system and deterioration in image quality are suppressed. SOLUTION: The document reader comprises a platen glass 50, and a conveyance guide 612 for guiding a document from a resist roller 30 secured to a base mount (not shown) not to touch the platen glass 50 along a document conveyance way 31 toward a reading position P. The platen glass 50 is reciprocated with a stroke of distance L1 in the direction parallel with the document conveyance direction (a direction of an arrow D) during reading operation of the document.
