<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detector of an air/fuel ratio sensing device for minimizing effects of catalyst storage and also ensuring the frequency of detection. <P>SOLUTION: By using this detector, the integrated value of the variation rate under low-temperature control when solid electrolyte element temperature is stabilized at low temperature, is computed. Then the integrated value of variation rate under high-temperature control, when solid electrolyte element temperature is stabilized at a high temperature, is computed. Finally, the deviation value for the integrated value of variation rate, that is, the deviation between the integrated value of variation rate under low-temperature control and the integrated value of variation rate under high-temperature control, is computed. By comparing this deviation value with the predetermined value, the presence of degradation is discriminated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
