PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video apparatus including a liquid crystal display in a display unit. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the video apparatus including the liquid crystal display in the display unit, and more particularly a portable terminal including the liquid crystal display of a relatively small size in the display unit in which a user can recognize a natural image, wherein an apparatus and method for adjusting a darkness and brightness of the image such that a specific region is not excessively bright or dark by analyzing a process of human color recognition and a process of human color response to find a reference value of the image so that a dark area of the image can be correctly detected are provided.
