PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conjugate fiber with high specific gravity, minimally suppressing void produced in a core component and having high specific gravity and high strength capable of giving sufficient sinking rate and shape-retaining property when used for marine materials, particularly stationary nets. SOLUTION: The conjugate fiber having high specific gravity is a core-sheath type conjugate fiber composed of a core component containing polybutylene terephthalate, in which isophthalic acid is copolymerized, as a main component and containing particles having high specific gravity and a sheath component containing polyethylene terephthalate as a main component.
