PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent gas barrier laminate not deteriorated in its capacity even and the time of sterilization treatment such as retorting treatment by reinforcing the adhesion of a vapor deposition film and relaxing the retorting impact against the vapor deposition film. SOLUTION: The laminate for a retort is constituted by providing a pretreatment surface 5 due to RIE at least on one side of a plastic base material 1, providing an inorganic vapor deposition layer 2 with a thickness of 5-100 nm thereon, providing a composite film 3, which has at least one kind of a water soluble polymeric compound, a metal alkoxide and/or its hydrolysate and/or its polymerized material as a component, thereon and applying resin coating, which comprises a solution containing 5-60 vol% of an inorganic filler, to the composite film 3 to provide an inorganic filler-containing layer 4. The pretreatment surface 5 by RIE and the inorganic vapor deposition layer 2 are continuously treated using the same film forming machine (in-line film forming machine) and the laminate for the retort does not lose gas barrier properties even by retorting treatment.
