<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weather strip for an automobile, easily applied to the peripheral edge of an opening of a car body by preventing the expansion and contraction of a mounting base of a weather strip, and hardly causing creases of a sealing part in application. <P>SOLUTION: This weather strip 10 for an automobile seals between a door of an automobile and the peripheral edge of an opening part of the car body of the automobile. The weather strip has the mounting base 20 fitted to one of the automobile door or the peripheral edge of the car body opening and the sealing part 30 integrally formed mount base 20 is abutted on the peripheral edge of the car body opening or the door to seal between the door and the peripheral edge of the car body opening. The mounting base is substantially U-shaped in section, and a core material 24 is buried in the interior thereof.
