PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave generator which can generate terahertz waves of high output even if the quantity of incident light is small. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic wave generator generates electromagnetic waves when a light enters, and it is provided with a semi-insulative GaAs substrate 1 and electrodes 2 and 3 provided on the GaAs substrate 1.
