PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation controller in which memory access can be performed efficiently through a simple arrangement depending on the format of image data being processed. SOLUTION: The image formation controller comprises a memory element, a memory controller, one or a plurality of DMA controller requesting issue of a memory access command, a means for judging whether image data is stored on a memory element in dot sequential format or line sequential format, and a memory access control means for controlling the memory controller to issue a first memory access command for the memory element when the image data format judging means judges that the image data is stored on the memory element in dot sequential format and controlling the memory controller to issue a second memory access command for the memory element when the image data format judging means judges that the image data is stored in line sequential format.
