PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel wherein contrast is improved and outer ejection of an electromagnetic wave is shielded. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel is provided with a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a partition wall arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate and restricting a discharge cell with the first substrate and the second substrate, an external light-absorbing layer provided at least one place between the first substrate and the partition wall and between the second substrate and the partition wall, a first discharging electrode arranged in the partition wall to surround the discharge cell, a second discharging electrode arranged in the partition wall to surround the discharge cell and separated from the first discharging electrode in a direction to the first substrate or the second substrate, a phosphor layer arranged in the discharge cell, and discharge gas in the discharge cell.
