Method for adjusting a mechanical resonance frequency of a hollow body has the following steps: changing of a static external pressure or changing the internal pressure of the essentially pressure-tight hollow body to generate a differential pressure between interior and exterior; adjusting of the pressure difference so that it causes a particular extension of the hollow body material and; flowing of at least a part of the material of the hollow body due to the pressure difference causing plastic deformation of the body. The invention also relates to a corresponding use of the method with a measurement pipe or a sensor housing (3).
