The device has a fastening unit surrounding a major part of an outer section of a mast (1), and having separate fastening parts (5, 6) to form an assembly adopting the mast, where the parts are fixed on the mast by bonding. The parts have projections (7) fixed with each other and placed on the mast to fix a stay (2) on the mast, and skirts (13) with a lower wall perpendicular to a geometric axis of the mast and a cone shaped outer part. An independent claim is also included for a composite material mast having a fastening device.
