PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact autonomous navigation sensor with fewer magnetic detector elements. SOLUTION: The autonomous navigation sensor placed on a vehicle comprises: an X-axis magnetic detector element 11 for detecting synthetic magnetic field of a magnetic field by remaining magnetism of steel belt provided in at least one tire provided in a vehicle and a magnetic field based on the terrestrial magnetism; and a Y-axis magnetic detector element 13 for detecting a transverse magnetic field which crosses the synthetic magnetic field as the detection object of the X-axis magnetic detector element 11. Here, the both magnetic detector elements 11 and 13 are arranged near the tires. The autonomous navigation sensor also comprises: a rotation signal producing part 3 which produces a rotation signal indicating the rotation of wheel provided to the vehicle based on the synthetic magnetic field detected with the X-axis magnetic detector element 11 and/or the transverse magnetic field detected with the Y-axis magnetic detector element 13; and an azimuth angle calculation part 4 for calculating the azimuth of the vehicle based on the synthetic magnetic field detected with the X-axis magnetic detector element 11 and/or the transverse magnetic field detected with the Y-axis magnetic detector element 13.
