PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for batteries for vehicles that is capable of effectively cooling batteries for vehicles without sacrificing the occupant space in a vehicle compartment. SOLUTION: A battery housing 5 is provided at some midpoint in a duct 4 for guiding part of air, whose temperature is adjusted by an air temperature adjusting device 1 mounted in the front part of a vehicle, to the rear part of the vehicle. The cooling device for batteries for vehicles is so constructed that air sucked in by a suction fan 7 placed at the rear end of the duct 4 and flowing in the duct 4 is supplied to the battery housing 5, and batteries are thereby cooled. The battery housing 5 is constructed of a first housing 5A whose front and rear part are directly connected to the duct 4; and a second housing portion 5B that is positioned above or beside the first housing portion, connects to the duct 4 through the first housing portion, and has an air intake 10 and an exhaust port 11.
