PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel (PDP) drive unit by which reduction of a manufacturing cost and clamping ability are simultaneously satisfied. SOLUTION: The PDP drive unit includes a first voltage switching unit 255 to apply a first voltage and a grounding voltage to a sustain electrode line, a second voltage switching unit 257 to apply a second voltage higher than the first voltage to the sustain electrode line, a second diode D22 and a third diode D23 coupled by a connection node N21 such that the voltage of the connection node N1 is maintained between the first voltage and the grounding voltage, and a fourth switching element S24 coupled at one end with the cathode terminal of the second diode D22 and at the other end with the first voltage source.
