PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter shortened in the shaft direction. SOLUTION: This torque converter 1 can transmit motive power to an output member from an input member via a pump impeller 3 having a pump shell 3a and a turbine runner 4 having a turbine shell 4a; and has a stator 6 for directing a working fluid from the turbine runner 4 to the pump impeller 3, a one-way clutch 9 for setting the rotational direction of the stator 6 only in one direction, and a first thrust bearing 10a arranged on the outer diameter side of the one-way clutch 9, arranged abutting on the turbine shell 4a between the stator 6 and the turbine shell 4a and receiving force in the shaft direction of the stator 6.
