PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image provided with sufficient image density in a developing device where a toner carrier is rotated so that it is moved from below to above in a developing range faced with an image carrier. SOLUTION: In the developing device where the toner carrier 21 is rotated so that it is moved from below to above in the developing range faced with the image carrier and toner is fed to the toner carrier from a toner feeding member, a toner retaining part 24 is formed by providing a receiving member 23 below the toner feeding member and the shortest spacing S1 between the toner feeding member and a top wall surface of the toner retaining part 24a is made to be 0.1 mm<=S1<=3 mm from a position 'a' where the toner feeding member and the toner carrier are brought into contact to a position 'b' where an angleαformed by a tangent of the toner feeding member and a horizontal line is matched with an angle of repose of the toner in a device main body and a spacing S2 between the toner feeding member and the top wall surface of the toner retaining part in a normal direction of the toner feeding member at the position b mentioned above is made to be >=3 mm. |
