PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic refuse removing machine which facilitates installation thereof not only in a shallow channel but also in a deep large-scale channel, is simple in structure, light in weight, and easy in maintenance. SOLUTION: The refuse removing device for removing refuse collected by a screen (20) is formed of: a carriage (40) movable along an upper edge of the screen; and a stand (50) arranged on the carriage and movable in a direction that crosses a carriage moving direction. The stand is provided with: a raking tool (60) including a pole (61) and a rake (62) arranged at a lower end of the same; and a sliding device (70) for vertically sliding the pole to ascend/descend the rake. The sliding device is formed of: a plurality of rollers (71a, 71b, 71c, 72a, 72b) for slidably pinching the pole (61); and a driving means for driving at least one of the plurality of rollers.
