<p>The invention relates to a security label (7') for safeguarding an object (1) from theft, comprising an electronically detectable first security element (3) and a covering layer (4) that completely covers this security element. The covering layer (4) is completely covered by a label (6) made of tearable material that, on its side facing the covering layer (4), is provided with an adhesive having an at least somewhat lower adhesive force than that of the adhesive applied to the covering layer (4).
