<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the crime prevention function by a low lost which requires no infrared sensor and large-capacity hard disk, can notify the outside when a suspicious person invades, and can also specify the suspicious person. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 consists of an image reading part 6, an image forming part 3, a CCD camera 31, a control part 32, a storage part 33, an operation panel 34, a transmitting part 35 and a telephone line interface 36. The image forming apparatus 1 can be set in an image formation mode of performing normal image formation and in a crime prevention mode of detecting the presence or absence of the suspicious person. In the case where the apparatus is set in the crime prevention mode, the control part 32 fetches for every predetermined time image data of images photographed by the CCD camera 31, compares the data with image data fetched at the previous time and stored in the storage part 33, and judges the presence or absence of abnormalities.
