PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound insulating structure of an air conditioner capable of reducing noise of the existing air conditioner with simple construction. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with a casing 11 storing an axial fan and opened at the upper face, and an outdoor unit 1 provided at the upper end of the casing 11 and having a hood 12 turning a blowoff direction sideward. The sound insulating structure 2 of the air conditioner has a vibration damping material 3 provided on the inner surface or outer surface of the hood 12. The vibration damping material 3 is composed of a vibration damping sheet provided on the inner surface or outer surface of the hood 12 and formed of an organic polymeric material with a loss tangent peak value of 1.5 or more, and a restraining member provided on the vibration damping sheet and having a Young's modulus of 1 GPa or more.
