PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermoplastic resin film which can reduce the breakage of the film caused by defective clips by setting operation standards in consideration of the traveling speed of the film and the difference in edge thickness of the film in a tenter method for gripping both ends of the film by numbers of the clips to stretch the film by applying tension to the film in a box in a process for producing the film. SOLUTION: In the process for producing the thermoplastic resin film, in the tenter method in which both ends of the film are gripped by numbers of the clips to apply tension to the film to stretch it, the grip trace state of the gripped parts of the film when the film is separated from the clps is monitored by a grip trace detector so that it is always monitored whether the film is gripped normally by the clips or not.
