A bracket adapted to be adjustably secured to a grooved wooden or soft plastic upright comprises a metal strip providing limbs 11 bent at their ends to form first Us which face away from each other and second larger Us which face each other. The free flanges 15 of. the larger Us are adapted to slide in taper-sided grooves in the wooden upright and one flange 15 at least has projections 16 which dig into the grooves when the limbs 11 are either drawn together by a clamping screw passing through holes in the bases of the first Us or are sprung together by a U-shaped clip, Fig. 2 not shown, pressed over the bases of the first Us. A shelf may be secured to the bracket by a screw passed through a hole (33), Fig. 8 not shown, in a double U-shaped metal clip (32), which grips the lower edges 11b of the bracket. In a modification, Fig. 6, 7 not shown, the projections 26a are formed by upsetting the metal of the base of the larger U. One of the grooves may be of uniform width. The projections may be ratchet shaped. |
