PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system, in particular a microscope comprising an optical unit (17) and a collimator (1). SOLUTION: The collimator is arranged preceding or following the optical unit (17) in a beam path of the optical system, the said optical unit (17) imposes a predetermined longitudinal chromatic aberration on a beam supplied to the said beam path. The said beam is made incident on the collimator (1) as a diverging beam or a parallel beam and is converted by the said collimator into a parallel beam or a converging beam.
