METHOD FOR MAKING CASTING MOLD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making a casting mold made of an intermetallic compound having a furthermore uniform structure. SOLUTION: The surface layer of the casting mold made of a base material of the intermetallic compound is manufactured by the following steps: a first step for filling a tightly sealed container with mixed powder of material elements of a porous sintered compact; a second step for making a sintered compact by reacting the supplied mixed powder in the tightly sealed container; a third step for crushing the sintered compact into a powder or granular state; a fourth step for filling a mold having an inverted shape of the casting mold with the crushed powder or granular material; and a fifth step for manufacturing the surface layer of the intermetallic compound casting mold by sintering the supplied powder material in the inverted mold. As described above, because two steps of sintering processes are carried out, the surface layer of the intermetallic compound casting mold having the uniform structure can be manufactured.
