The unit is assembled of a convex plate (2) for the catheter (1, 24) to be attached to the body of the patient and the puncturing and needle removal mechanism (18). The rear end of the needle (5) is joined to the axle of a toothed wheel (8) meshing with the teeth of a toothed rack (9) located at the inner surface of a guide element. After the needle (5) has punctured the skin and simultaneously inserted the end of the tube (24) it is removed by pulling back a handle (16) acting on the toothed gear (8) which is moved along the rack (9) removing the needle (5) gently from the tissue in the process.
