The blanket has adjacent side edges (2) whose characteristics partially differs from a true length direction (A) of the blanket, where the edges are curved and the characteristics of the edges are cascade. The edges have a rectangular tooth system, and a central step (3) which takes an angle of 45 degrees to the direction, where a drift (V) between sections of the edges amounts to a specific value. An independent claim is also included for a rubber blanket cylinder of a rotary printing machine.
