The twist beam rear axle for a motor vehicle has a cross member (3) torsionally stressed between two longitudinal links (2). The cross member is formed from two identically configured metal profiles (4) which have a U-shaped or V-shaped cross section and which are glued together at least in sections in a congruent arrangement. A layer of adhesive (5) is installed at least between the side (7) of the profiles and the thickness of the adhesive layer corresponds to approximately double the sheet thickness of the profiles.
