PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element having proper driving durability and luminescent characteristics. SOLUTION: A light emitting element has an organic compound layer containing at least one layer of luminescent layer between a pair of electrodes. The luminescent layer contains at least one kind of luminescent dopant and a plurality of host compounds. Expressing the ionization potential of the dopant as Ip(D) and the minimum value of the ionization potential of a plurality of host compounds as Ip(H)min,ΔIp defined byΔIp=Ip(D)-Ip(H)min satisfies the relationΔIp>0eV. Expressing the electron affinity of the dopant as Ea(D) and the maximum value of the electron affinity of a plurality of host compounds as Ea(H)max,ΔEa defined byΔEa=Ea(H)max-Ea(D) satisfies the relationΔEa>0eV.
