PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for adjustment and inspection capable of adjustment and inspection of an optical pickup used for a high density recording optical disk with a simple constitution with high accuracy and high speed. SOLUTION: The apparatus is constituted so as to arrange a diffraction grating at a desired position to an objective lens by arranging a piezo-electric element for moving the diffraction grating in the direction of focusing the transmission light from the objective lens in the optical pickup to be inspected, and driving the piezo-electric element based on data from an optical measuring instrument.
