PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equipment and a method capable of easily changing a coating width in case of using a coating head having a slit nozzle. SOLUTION: In an equipment and a method for coating a running object to be coated with a coating material by using a coating head 1B having a slit nozzle 6, the coating width of the slit nozzle is adjusted by making at least one end of the slit nozzle 6 as a released end releasing in a side face direction of the coating head 1B, installing shims 5a and 5b at the released end, and changing an installation position of the shims related to the width direction of the slit nozzle.
