PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photomultiplier tube in which enlargement of a side tube diameter can be suppressed, and a radioactive ray detection device equipped with it. SOLUTION: In the photoelectron multiplier tube 1, a ring-shaped side tube 7 is not interposed between a side tube 2 and a stem 5 toward the diameter direction, while the side tube 2 is joined to the ring-shaped side tube 7 in a state that a protruded part from an opening end face of the upper part of the ring-shaped side tube 7 in the stem 5 is directly covered. By this, diameter enlargement of the photomultiplier tube 1 caused by piling up of the side tube 2 with the ring-shaped side tube 7 can be suppressed, while high densification and high integration or the like can be realized when mounting this photomultiplier tube 1.
