PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and automatically upgrade the program of a digital composite unit without depending on the knowledge or know-how of a user or a service person. SOLUTION: A mail is transmitted by a digital composite machine (1-3) to an SNMP server (1-1) existing on the internet and the reply is received, so that the latest firmware version information can be acquired. Version information for securing an operation is acquired from the firmware version information by the mail, and the firmware data of the version are acquired by the mail, and are automatically rewritten for an ROM.
