摘要 <p>The component is manufactured in a composite material(12) comprising a matrix(14) of one or more optically transparent materials and reinforcing areas(16). Reinforcing areas are distributed across the structure so that certain areas(18,20) have different degrees of transparency. Reinforced areas(16) are formed by nanoparticles whose size avoids light refraction at them. Concentration of nanoparticles in the composite material is not >20% varies across the component. Areas(18) with a lower concentration of nanoparticles have increased transparency. Nanoparticle concentration at the component edges(24,26) is higher than in the central area(22). Edge areas have greater mechanical strength compared to areas of higher transparency. Areas with greater transparency may form a lens(30). Areas outside the reinforced area(16) may have a graded distribution of nanoparticles. The component may be fiber reinforced(42) by placing fibers in a mold and injecting a matrix material around them. Fiber reinforcement lies outside areas of higher transparency. An independent claim is included for a structural part for a motor vehicle produced with one or more of the claimed components having areas of higher transparency.</p>
