The isotope concentration in the hot towers are monitored, and the valves 76 are adjusted so that the water flow into the towers 21 is such as to produce the desired isotopic concentration in these towers. The rest of the water in line 49 is recycled via pump 61, and any water not drawn off through line 49 overflows into lines 50, and hence passes to hot towers 21. H 2 S gas passes upwardly through hot towers 21 and then through the cold towers 17.
