PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable display without chrominance slippage over all gradation areas and to perform the display with arbitrary white balance without requiring a plurality of correction data. SOLUTION: The correction data setting method includes: a first step of obtaining tristimulus values of R, G and B at or near a maximum gradation value; a second step of also obtaining tristimulus values at those R, G and B's respective minimum gradation value; and a third step of also obtaining tristimulus values when R, G and B are displayed at the same time at a gradation value between the gradation at or near the maximum gradation value and the minimum gradation value. There is generated a conversion matrix for converting tristimulus values XYZ obtained by subtracting the tristimulus values obtained in the second step from the first tristimulus values obtained in the first step to a color mixture ratio of R, G and B. A color mixture ratio of R, G and B is calculated from the conversion matrix and the tristimulus values obtained in the third step, and correction data are generated from change characteristic data indicating a relation between an input gradation value and the calculated color mixture ratio of the R, G and B, and target gradation characteristic data indicating a relation between the input gradation value and brightness data corresponding to the input gradation value.
