The invention relates to a ballistic cap attachment 10, for a radiation-transparent dome 12 of a missile, comprising a radiation-transparent outer structure 22, which is aerodynamically improved as against the spherical form, and radiation-transparent correction optics 24 which can be attached at the front of the dome 12. By means of the ballistic cap attachment 10, it is possible to retrofit older missiles so that they have a longer range without any need to intervene in the existing structure of the missile. Outer structure 22 may be conical, ogival or paraboloidal and may be made of magnesium fluoride. Correction optics 24 may comprise germanium lenses. |
