The apparatus has a muting device (10) connected with an equipment (5) e.g. radio, to automatically mute the equipment (5) based on a warning signal of a used motor vehicle, where the signal is an audio or electromagnetic signal or a high frequency radio signal of a specific wavelength. The device (10) is designed such that it suspends the muting of the equipment (5) for a specific adjustable period.
