PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer capable of simply and inexpensively executing purging processing in a mode corresponding to the degree that a user thinks of a defect of recording results. SOLUTION: After finishing the recording of a check pattern by a recording means 1, a recording result confirmation request means 102D requests the user to input the quality of the recording result based on the check pattern whether it is good or bad through a display part 104b on an operation panel 104. When the user inputs that the quality of the recording result is bad to the recording result confirmation request means 102D, a mode for recovery processing by a purging processing means 22, which is executed after the end of the recording of the check pattern, is changed corresponding to the degree of the bad state by a recovery processing control means 102A. The change of the mode for recovery processing is executed as the change of suction pressure in the recovery processing or the change of the number of times of the recovery processing.
