The fastening element, especially a nut component, has on one end a bearing face (14) for a captively held plain washer (20) which is rotatable on the fastening element (11). The fastening element on its end facing its bearing face has an encompassing undercut (13). The undercut in cross section is trapezoidal in construction and may be in the form of an encompassing undercut slot. An encompassing chamfer (17) is provided between the undercut and bearing face. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a plain washer with a contact face for a bearing face of a fastening element; and (B) fastening means with the aforesaid fastening element.
