PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus such as a printer or an MFP in which lowering in visibility of a document due to printing of a watermark is suppressed, and to provide a program. SOLUTION: The writing data generating section 210 of a personal computer 200a generates writing data from document data specified by a user, and a watermark information setting means 211 is made to generate watermark information in the document data, which is then added to the writing data before being transmitted to an MFP 100. At the MFP 100, a watermark information detecting means 111 detects a watermark from writing data received at a writing data analyzing section 110 from the personal computer 200a, a writing section 120 writes the writing data on a memory to generate a print image, an object judging means 121 detects a writing object on the print image, a watermark writing position correcting means corrects the position of watermark not to overlap the writing object, and an output section 130 performs printing.
