A dish-type reflector 12, Fig. 1, is illuminated by a primary radiator 11, which is carried in a ball joint 13 through which power is conveyed from a waveguide. Extending from the ball joint is a guide pin 14, upon which a coupling component 15 is slidably mounted. As shown, a bead 16 formed on the component 15 is engaged in a bearing 21 formed in a slide 5. The said slide can be oscillated transversely by an eccentric 1 formed upon a member comprising a gear 4 which is rotatable by a pinion 22 on the spindle of a motor 23. A nodding motion of the primary radiator 11 results. The aforesaid member is slidable upon a hexagonal crosssection portion of a drive spindle 3, and it is provided with a locator cone 2 between the eccentric 1 and the gear 4. The member may be lifted against a spring 24 by a coupling disc 28, when the gear 4 is disengaged from the pinion 22, the eccentric 1 is withdrawn from the slide 5, and the locator cone 2 engages with a lower conical surface 7 formed on the slide 5. An upper conical surface 8 is also formed on the slide 5, to facilitate re-engagement of the eccentric 1. With the slide 5 locked by the locator cone 2, the primary radiator 11 is held centrally with respect to the reflector 12. Lifting of the coupling disc 28 is effected by bolts 29, 30 which pass through a disc 34 and comprise shoulders 37, 38 against which the said disc is held by loading springs 35, 36. The disc 34 is lifted by rotating a shaft 31, motion being transmitted by a disc 32 and a link 33. The primary radiator 11 may be rotated for conical scanning by moving the coupling component 15 downwards, when the bead 16 is disengaged from the slide 5, and a pin 17 is received in a conical recess 19 arranged eccentrically with respect to the spindle of a motor 20. |
